Dear SSC Families, Alumni, and Community Members,

The Steamboat Soccer Club (SSC) has been a pillar of our community since 1984. We currently serve over 750 players ranging from U5 to U19 annually, and recently we have started soccer programing in the Craig and South Routt communities. Since SSC's inception 36 years ago, our mission remains the same - to instill a lifelong passion for the game of soccer through player focused programs in safe, fun and inclusive environments. We strive to develop players that embody athleticism, sportsmanship and teamwork, while mentoring each person to reach their full potential in soccer and life.

The Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament (SMST) held in July is the major sustaining revenue generator that keeps us going year after year while also subsidizing program costs for our members. After multiple weeks of discussion, proposals, plans and speculation, the SSC staff and board have decided to cancel the 36th Annual SMST. This decision was tough to make knowing the effect it will have on the morale and well-being of our members, as well as the financial stability of our club, our club sponsors and partners, and the overall business community of Steamboat Springs. However we feel this is the socially responsible decision to make in the unprecedented COVID-19 situation. The direct result is that our club will miss out on earning $100,000 in net profit to our overall budget.

Over the years, the SSC board and staff have acted fiscally responsibly, all while providing programs at some of the lowest costs compared to other clubs around Colorado. Every player in our club benefits from reduced fees. We have purchased an indoor turf to meet the training demands of our winter programing and spring seasons, and maintained a modest reserve for emergencies and scholarships. No one would have predicted a situation like we all are experiencing.

We need your support to help secure our future viability. We have set up a GoFundMe page

and have two sponsors who are willing to contribute up to $10,000 in matching funds. Please share this page with your family, friends and others who love soccer and understand the value of its foundation in youth sports.

Unlike school districts, city entities, and parks and recreation districts who receive taxpayer revenue to support their business, SSC is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization and we rely on player registration fees and profits from our tournament to support our club and programs. With the need to cancel the spring season and process refunds, and the cancelation of our tournament, we are in dire need of your support.

Thank you for your understanding, consideration and ongoing support.

The Steamboat Soccer Club Staff and Board of Directors

The Steamboat Soccer Club was founded in 1984 and we are a registered 501(c)(3). The club offers of competitive teams for boys and girls ranging from U11-U19. Additionally, we have Grassroots recreation and development programs for U5-U10 boys and girls. We have approximately 750 players in our club.

We value being an inclusive community organization that provides year round soccer opportunities for players at all levels to educate by striving to build character, confidence, skills, and soccer awareness. Without enjoyment, soccer is nothing! That's why we play. We want to instill a life-long passion for the game in our players. We hold our players accountable for their actions and teach them to always put forth their best effort. Excellence comes from hard work, commitment and putting in the work.
