Steamboat Soccer Club Members, 

As we're sure most of you are aware the Nation, the state of Colorado, and even us here at Steamboat Soccer Club are in desperate need of additional referees for our youth games!  

I'm sure many, if not all of you, have been to away games with less than the ideal number of referees; and this past fall season produced a similar problem here locally with games as well.  

The need for additional referees is obvious. We realize that it may not be the most glamorous job, but it is certainly a necessary one! That being said we're asking each and every one of you to consider becoming a certified referee. Even if you don't feel you have the confidence, knowledge, or skill set to be a referee please still consider as we can help place you in the proper environment and provide continued support to help you become more and more comfortable with the job of refereeing.  

As additional incentive, Steamboat Soccer Club will reimburse any certified referee for their certification fees, and waive any volunteer hours after a minimum of 5 games within a year have been worked!

As another added bonus, the process of becoming certified has just gotten easier. Colorado Soccer is piloting an online only certification course for US Soccer. So you can get certified in the comfort of your home or office, and at a pace that works for you and your schedule. To get certified and jump right into games may not be ideal, and for that reason we are also in the process of reorganizing our referee support and mentoring program to help newly certified referees feel comfortable going from online to the field!
