The Competitive Program is designed for players who are interested in playing a higher level of competition and under the guidance of a professional coach. (U11-U12) Teams will play 9v9 and (U13-U19) play 11v11. Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays, with times varying throughout the season. Games are played in a home/away format with opponents from the Colorado Soccer Association (CSA). In the Competitive Program, families are expected to be able to travel to the Denver area or mountain towns for away games. Home games will be played at Emerald Fields.

There is a mandatory player placement process for all competitive teams which is held annually at the beginning of June. Your child will be placed by development level and can move from one team to another based on development through the year.

At these age groups, playing time is shared, but it is not equal. Playing time is at the coaches' discretion and takes into consideration absenteeism, tardiness, or general behavior issues in addition to skill of the player, quality of opponent, and competition. Players are expected to be at all games and training sessions. Players who are unable to attend a training session or match must let the coach know in advance. Players are expected to wear cleats, shin guards, shorts, socks, and PROVIDED training jersey at all training sessions. Players are also expected to bring an inflated soccer ball and water to all training sessions and games. Competitive players age U11-U12 use a size four (4) soccer ball and players age U13 and older use a size five (5) soccer ball.

* Uniform and traveling expenses are additional. We run on a two-year cycle for uniforms and we are starting the first year of the cycle. Information on purchasing uniforms will be sent out after team formation. Please order your uniform in June after player placements.

* Work Deposit: $200 - may be worked off at the 2023 Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament with a 4 hour shift per player. We ask all players' families, including one season and practice players, to turn in a work deposit check and to volunteer at the Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament.
*As a non-profit organization, we depend on and greatly appreciate the support of our families who volunteer. The Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament income goes toward reducing fees for players. The tournament subsidizes each competitive player's fees by about $300. Our yearly fees are substantially less than most clubs in the state. There is a work deposit of $200 per player, with a two-athlete per family maximum of $400 to encourage volunteerism. All work deposits are due at registration and will be held and not deposited until the required four hours/athlete shift is completed. Most volunteer shifts are needed at the Steamboat Mountain Soccer Tournament. We occasionally have other volunteer opportunities available.
