PROJECT DETAILS

We are launching a $5 million capital campaign to build Lockhart Fields at Heritage Park on land generously donated by Ty and Betty Lockhart.


The project includes:

  • Two full-size artificial turf fields designed for soccer and adaptable for other field sports.
  • Lighting & Snow removal for extended season usage and to enable evening play.
  • Site improvements, including parking, walkways, and landscaping.
  • Amenities such as team benches, spectator seating, and storage facilities.


With these facilities, SSC will expand capacity, reduce cancellations, and extend the outdoor season for athletes across the Yampa Valley.

WHY NOW

  • Capacity is maxed out: SSC currently uses ~1,600 field hours annually; every season, teams are squeezed into smaller spaces, shortened seasons and shortened practice slots.
  • Seasonal limitations: Each spring, kids are stuck indoors as fields remain snow-covered and unusable.
  • Rising costs: Field rental fees have nearly doubled in the past five years, making programs less affordable.
  • Generational opportunity: With land secured and design plans in motion, we are poised to create a lasting community asset that will serve Yampa Valley families for decades.
