Why This Matters
For more than 40 years, Steamboat Soccer Club has been a lifeline for youth and adults across the Yampa Valley—creating safe spaces and meaningful connections that change lives. Yet for decades our impact was limited by one challenge: no permanent home. Rented fields are costly, unpredictable, and often closed due to weather—especially in spring and fall—leaving too many kids without a place to play.
In 2025, the extraordinary generosity of Ty and Betty Lockhart created the opportunity to establish a lasting home for soccer at Heritage Park—bringing us closer to year-round access for every player and family.
The Project
Lockhart Fields will transform a long-idle site into a vibrant, extended-season community recreation hub with:
- Two full-size artificial turf fields
- Snow-removal capability for extended seasons (late Feb–Nov)
- Field lighting for safe evening play and events
- Site improvements: parking, walkways, landscaping
- Amenities: team benches, storage facilities
