Why This Matters

For 40 Years, No Permanent Home

For more than four decades, Steamboat Soccer Club has served 1,500 youth and adult athletes across Routt and Moffat Counties. Yet for all that time, the club has never had a permanent home.

Rented fields are costly, unpredictable, and closed for months each year due to weather. Every spring, kids wait indoors while snow-covered grass fields sit unusable. Every season, teams are squeezed into shorter schedules and smaller spaces.

In 2025, the extraordinary generosity of Ty and Betty Lockhart created the opportunity to change this forever. They donated the land at Heritage Park to give the club a lasting home.

Why Now

The Time to Build Is Now

Capacity Is Maxed Out
SSC currently uses ~1,600 field hours annually. Every season, teams are squeezed into smaller spaces, shorter seasons, and shortened practice slots.
Seasonal Limitations
Each spring, kids are stuck indoors as fields remain snow-covered and unusable for weeks. Turf fields with snow removal would add months of playing time every year.
Rising Costs
Field rental fees have nearly doubled in the past five years, making programs less affordable. Owning our fields shifts rental costs to operating costs we control.
Generational Opportunity
With land secured and design plans in motion, we are poised to create a lasting community asset that will serve Yampa Valley families for decades.
⚠️
Emerald Park Offline in 2027
Emerald Park, SSC's primary venue, will be taken offline for all of 2027 for city maintenance. Without Lockhart Fields, our programs will be scattered across town on limited, makeshift field space. Building now means our athletes have a real home when they need it most.
